"a solution to global problems"

"I saw that there was nothing to stop me from trying to think about our total planet Earth and thinking realistically about how to operate it on an enduringly sustainable basis as the magnificent human – passengered spaceship that it is."

"10,000 for 10,000"

A CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROJECT DESIGNED BY CHARLES KOVESS, A GENI FOUNDATION TRUSTEE, AND SUPPORTED BY GENI FOUNDATION. THE INSTALLATION OF SOLAR ENERGY GENERATORS IN 10,000 OUTBACK AUSTRALIAN, AFRICAN AND INDIAN VILLAGES - ONE CORPORATE SPONSORING ONE VILLAGE AT A TIME!

THE PROJECT

Most small villages in Africa and India suffer from lack of electricity. Electricity availability, even in small amounts, is proven to dramatically increase quality of life. It enables pumping of water, lighting at night, medical facilities and resources, and computer and internet availability, including recharging of mobile phones, education, and marketing of the village production of foodstuffs and goods. Another dramatic result of availability of electricity is a reduction in birthrates. Every nation that has sufficient electricity has a birthrate BELOW replacement of population rate (defined as 2.1 children per adult woman). The British Royal Society in June 2012 reported that one of the world’s greatest challenges is to halt the increase of the world’s population (from 1.9 billion in 1900 to 7 billion in 2012).

This "10,000 for 10,000" Project will have a direct and important positive impact globally by assisting in reducing birthrates.

This Project involves three steps:

  1. Inspiring corporates to finance solar energy generation equipment to villages in Africa and India. Each corporate would finance an installation in one village and the ongoing maintenance of that installation, and would enjoy the ongoing links with that village.
  2. Solar energy installers identified by GENI in Australia would advise each Corporate on possible installations. Three levels are proposed: less than $10,000; between $10-50,000; and over $50,000.
  3. Not-for-profit organisations, already established in Africa and India, will identify the villages that will be financed. As the Project expands, other countries would of course be included.

The Vision for this Project is to inspire 10,000 Australian corporates to electrify 10,000 villages over the next five years.

WE SEEK YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO ENABLE GENI TO GET THIS MESSAGE OUT THERE AND INSPIRE THE CORPORATES TO SPONSOR THE VILLAGES.
